ABS Drive not seen in Win7 64bit

When I connect my ABS drive to Windows 7 (64 bit) USB port, the USB connection sound occurs but the drive is not seen.

I have a 100GB ABS 119719 (Model?). In My Computer, Manage, Disk Management, the ABS drive is seen as disk 1 Not Initialized. When I try to initialize it as either MBR or GPT, it says the media is write protected. The drive connects to my Win XP (32 bit) just fine.  I am not even worried about backup s/w running at this time, I just want the drive to be seen!

Can you provide us with the serial number of this hard drive? We need to identify if this was is encrypted by default or if it was constructed prior to Windows 7 release.

Did you set a password on this drive using BounceBack Professional at any time? It is possible that your drive is locked. You would need to remove the password on the XP machine using the BounceBack Professional first. Then connect it to the Windows 7 computer.

I will have to get the SN tomorrow but for now, this drive is several years old, it is definitely prior to Win7. Also, do not have the Bounceback s/w installed and there is no encryption or password, I am just using it as a large jump drive.

The built-in drivers on this device are not Windows 7 compatible. Windows 7 will not be able to install any generic mass storage drivers for this device upon connecting it to your computer.

Unfortunately this product was discontinued a few years back and we do not have a downloadable driver update. The hard drive on that is attached to the hard drive enclosure can be removed and attached to a different enclosure if needed.

We do offer an inexpensive hard drive enclosure if you do not have one already. You can find the Data Transfer Kit (Hard Drive Enclosure) by visiting the following web page. http://www.cmsproducts.com/products/162-data-transfer-kit-for-sata-notebook-drives.aspx
